Investment banking is an all encompassing business activity which traditionally supports businesses to develop their strategies, merger/acquisition activities and access to capital markets.

Private Investment banking refers to such an all encompassing service focused on private companies (i.e. EMBs) where capital is in the main provided by the investment banking business (also referred to as investment boutiques).
